Vail Colorado Ski Report and Vacation
By John Sousa
There is no longer the need to whizz across to Europe to experience the sophistication and elegance of a Bavarian ski village and the excellent skiing that goes with that. It is now available right here in Colorado in the beautiful and quaint town of Vail Co. This marvelous ski resort offers one of the best skiing vacations in the world. If you are looking for the latest Vail ski report, then you have come to the right place. Whether you are a die hard powder enthusiast, a cross country skier or just looking to enhance your skiing skills, you will find it all in the Eagle Vail area. This resort spreads its wings from East Vail to Vail Village to West Vail to Lionshead. There is an efficient lift system that takes you all the way to the top of the ski slope so you do not have trudge along carrying your skis. And when you have finished skiing, you can relax in the choicest of bars and restaurants, or fulfill your shopping urge. In addition, you can practice ice-skating, visit the museum, or just chill out at the countless entertainment venues. From the Lionshead cruisers to the legendary Back Bowls is a skier’s dream come true. The recent addition of Blue Sky Basin in 2000 to Back Bowls has managed to take Vail to the top of any skier’s preference list. The mountain is divided into three distinct areas which include 5,289 acres of freeride, 4 terrain parks and 7 bowls. In fact, getting fresh tracks anywhere on the mountain is relatively easy as on a busy day there are just four skiers per acre. This is fantastic news for skiing enthusiasts and they should not be surprised as the ski area is 7 miles wide. Each night the area grooms 1,500 acres on an average and this is more than any other resort in the US. Most ski reports fail to mention that Vail receives 300 days of sunshine and 348 inches of average annual snowfall. This makes the area ideal for skiing. In addition, whether you are an advanced skier or a beginner, you will enjoy yourself here. There are expert terrain in the Back Bowls and steep challenges on the Front Face for advanced skiers. Intermediate level skiers can take advantage of pistes, while beginners can have a lot fun at the nursery slopes. Even après-ski is not forgotten here with many varieties available. The Vail Colorado resort is made up of 4 areas: 1. Lionshead 2. Vail Village 3. West Vail 4. East Vail You're never too far from a slope as the lift system and shuttle service makes the commute very, very easy wherever you're at. Also, Vail has a variety of options available from hotels to condos to chalet. It goes without saying that expensive hotels are all located in the village. However, if you are looking for cheaper places, you can try Lionshead. Even Breckenridge, Beaver Creek and Keystone have hotels, which can still cheaper than those near Vail. But, do not fret. These places are just an hour drive away at the most. |
