How To Wear Pashmina Shawls

For me, my shawl is an indicator of my mood and personality. When I learned how to wear a shawl I knew that this simple yet versatile piece of accessory could not be bound by a season or fashion trend. Though, many proclaim that wearing one is fashionable and trendy. It depends on how you view it. It was my mother who graciously taught me how to wear a these fashion accessories in different styles. People from her generation saw these garments as winter wear meant to keep you warm. There was nothing in a shawl to suggest it could be trendy. However, things have changed with changing times.
Now, they are considered a must-have fashion accessory. However, there is no point in these accessories if you do not know how to wear one elegantly. I have seen many women wearing beautiful styles,colors and fabrics, but unfortunately the way they were draped made them look all bunched up and frumpish. I think learning how to wear a shawl plays an important part in being sensational and graceful. I usually wear halter necks or strappy outfits in summer. I just drape one on my shoulders and either tie the ends loosely or just use a brooch pin to secure the ends. I use the same style when I go to the beach or the swimming pool. In winter, to ward off the cold, I obviously wear my it wrapped around my neck when I am outdoors. But the moment I enter a heated room or building, I just have the it casually around my shoulders. In order to know how to wear a shawl properly, elegantly and correctly, it is important that the length it is to match your height. I tell friends and clients who are 5'6 and above that their shawl length should be around 36 X 80 inches, while those who are shorter than this should opt for smaller shawls. Yes, shawls come in different lengths and you have the option of buying a length that suits your height. There are many ways how to wear a shawl stylishly. This is an accessory, like a belt and a head covering. I suggest you experiment with all different ways of wearing a shawl and then go for the ones you like and prefer. |
